Progress Report RIWAH - November 2025

This report presents findings from the second round of data collection with Farmer Family Learning Groups and individual households. It describes their experiences with the RIWAH project, how the water harvesting technologies are being used, and the water‑related challenges they face.

The second round of data from the RIWAH project in five districts in Tanzania and Uganda shows strong progress. Many smallholder farming families have started using low‑cost water harvesting technologies. Subsequently, more families experience food security and more diverse food intake. Moreover, the farmers who use this methods report that their capacities of utilizing such water harvesting techniques are increasing - which is promising for future harvesting.

Despite different climate and local challenges, nearly all Farmer Family Learning Groups and most households report that they have implemented these technologies since 2025.
