One year into the RIWAH project, smallholder farming families across Uganda and Tanzania are increasingly putting low-cost water harvesting technologies into practice.

This report presents findings from the third round of data collection with Farmer Family Learning Groups and individual households. The results show strong progress in the adoption and spread of water harvesting technologies: the average household now uses 2.7 technologies, up from 1.7 at the start of the project, while 98% of surveyed households have implemented at least one technology. 

At the same time, indicators of food security have improved. More households report eating three meals a day, and dietary diversity has increased. Yet access to water remains a major challenge, with reliable rainfall, drought and limited storage capacity continuing to affect farming families across the five participating districts.
